Should you cut carbs for faster weight loss?

There are several myths and misconceptions about carbohydrates (carbs) that can be misleading. It’s important to note that carbohydrates are a crucial macronutrient and play a significant role in a balanced diet.

Meaning, cutting carbs in your diet may not give you the results you want. Why? Because it’s not just about the carbs, it is the EXCESS CALORIE consumption that causes fat gain, which may come not only from carbs but also proteins, fats and alcohol. Meaning, consuming an excess of any macronutrient, can contribute to weight gain.

 

Carbohydrates are the body’s primary source of energy and restricting them too much may lead to nutrient deficiencies and negatively impact overall health. So, eliminating them completely from your diet is not advisable. The body needs carbohydrates for various functions, including brain function. Instead of carbs elimination, focus on eating complex carbs because complex carbs are typically higher in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, making them a more nutritious choice than simple carbs. Though, it’s important to note that not all simple carbs are unhealthy, and some complex carbs may be processed and less nutritious. Opting for whole, unprocessed sources of complex carbs is generally recommended for optimal energy output and overall health. So, you might be happy to hear this one!
